Dharmaraj Yudhisthira

Dharmaraj Yudhisthira

Yudhisthir was the elder of most son Kunti and King Pandu. He was also considered as the incarnation of  Dharma raj.  Yudhishthira was the center of divine qualities like patience, forgiveness, Honesty, etc. He was a practical lecturer of the elements of religion and an ardent devotee of Lord Shri Krishna, arising out of religion.

Yudhisthir's Family includes his 4 brothers Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula, Sahadeva, and his mother Kunti.
Apart from this many times people asked How many wives he had?  How many children he had?
So let me tell you that Yudhisthira's wife was Draupadi from whom he got a son named Prativindhya. But other then this I heard many times that Yudhisthir had another wife called Devika but I didn't find any clue for that if you guys have something then kindly comment me.

Why Yudhishthira is called Dharmaraj

This incident happened when Hastinapur was in search of a king's successor who would rule the Kuru dynasty further. So both Duryodhana and Yudhisthir were available in the Kuru conference, where suddenly a case of murder registered and by the suggestion of Mahatma Vidhur its decision was left on both Duryodhana and Yudhisthir. As Duryodhana was the younger one so he got the first chance and he directly ordered that there is only one punishment of murder and that is Death, So I ordered to kill them all then it was Yudhisthir's turns so he first asked all the four First tell me do you accept your crime? They said yes.

Then he asked one more question that tell me about who you are? First one said I am a sutda, 2nd one said I am vaisya,3rd was Kshatriya and the 4th one was Brahman, then Yudhisthir said surda should be imprisoned for 2 years as he is Nescient, 2nd should get a punishment of 4 years imprisonment as he is uneducated, 3rd for 8 years as the duty of a kshatriya is to save lives not to take it and the fourth one should be imprisoned for 16 years as Brahman's duty to educate others what is right and what is wrong. everyone sitting there made fun of Yudhisthir that for the same crime how these are punished differently then Yudhisthir said this is as per Dharmashastra.

Yudhisthir saved Duryodhana from Gandharva's arrest

Yudhisthir saved Duryodhana after so much injustice, this happened when all the Pandavas were in the jungle for 12 years as they lost in the dice game. Duryodhana was very happy and he just wanted to see they were suffering in the jungle with proper resources. So went to the jungle with a few armies and placed their taints near there residents. One day while Duryodhan moved out of his camp he saw a girl and he tried to molest her, somehow she escaped and informed their brother who was the leader of that tribe. They immediately took all the army and attacked Duryodhana's camp and arrested him.

One of the soldier somehow escaped and informed the Pandavas that Duryodhana gets arrested by Gandharava's and they would kill him. All the Pandavas were happy except Yudhisthir. He said that there are differences in the family but it does not mean that a man should take advantage of it. So go and saved him. Then Arjuna and Bheema went to Gandharvas and apologize on behalf of Duryodhana and urged them to leave him alive.

Yudhisthira and his honesty

After the fall of Pitamah Bhishma in Mahabharata battle, Guru Draunacharya was elected at the chief of the army. To kill guru Drauna there was only one option and that is he put down his all weapons and for that Pandavas had to create shocking news so that this could happen. Then Krishna said to Yudhisthira that there is only one person to whom Draunacharya could trust and that 's you. So we have to Spread the news of his son Ashwatthama's death. To this Yudhisthir replied that I can't lie to my mentor.

You can also search for Karna surya-putra-karna-great-warrior.html

Then Krishna said there is one more option that there an elephant in this war named Ashwatthama, Bheema will kill that elephant then you can say it. But hey Krishna that would also be a lie. But in order to win this battle, you will have to do it that's the situation requires.
Bheema then Killed the Ashwatthama elephant and start yelling that I killed Ashwatthama, I killed Ashwatthama, Guru Drauna I killed your son. Drona said this can't be possible, you are not skilled enough to kill him, But that is true I killed your son.

Draunacharya then ordered his charioteer to go to the Yudhisthir's chariot. Then he asked Yudhisthir that please tell me the truth whatever was Bheema saying is correct or not. To this Yudhisthir said a sloka in Sanskrit That Ashawatthaha gets killed either a man or an elephant. But before he could complete his sentence all the Pandavas including Krishna rang the conch so loudly that the Drauna wasn't able to hear the later half sentence and because of sorrow put down the weapon and Dristdumna Killed him.

Yudhisthira cursed All Female race

When Kunti heard about Karna's death, she went to see him after sunset. She was crying with Karna's head in her lap. Yudhisthira and all the Pandavas along with Krishna were looking for the injured soldier and those who died for their funerals.

Yudhisthira saw his mother crying besides Karna's body, he asked why she is crying for the enemy.
To this she replied that he is your elder brother. Yudhisthira was full of anger by hearing this as said if you revealed the truth before then this battle could not happen. So I curse all the female race that they could not hide any secret from now on-wards.
