Lord Ganesh Broken tusk

 Hello Friends,

Today I bring you the story of lord Shiva's son Ganesh. Most of you may already new it those who have interests towards devotional stories.

The story of how Lord Ganesh's tusk got broken is a popular tale in Hindu scriptures. The incident is known as "Ganesh's Broken Tusk" or "Ganesh and the Moon." There are variations of the story, but the essence remains consistent across different retellings.

According to one version of the story:

Once, on a full moon night, Lord Ganesh was enjoying a grand feast at his abode. He loved eating, and on that particular night, he had consumed a vast amount of his favourite delicacies. Feeling content and full, he decided to take a leisurely ride on his divine mount, the mouse.

As Ganesh and his mouse moved through the night, a serpent suddenly appeared on their path. Startled by the unexpected encounter, the mouse lost its balance, and Ganesh fell off. In the process, his large belly burst open due to the impact of the fall.

Seeing this, the moon in the sky couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Ganesh's protruding belly. Lord Ganesh was known for his wisdom, but he was also endowed with a sense of humour. However, on this occasion, he felt a bit offended by the moon's laughter.

Feeling insulted, Ganesh decided to teach the moon a lesson. He broke off one of his tusks and hurled it at the moon. The tusk hit the moon, causing it to crack and go dark. The moon, realizing its mistake and seeking forgiveness, apologized to Lord Ganesh.

Ganesh, being kind-hearted, forgave the moon but couldn't undo the damage to his tusk. He accepted the apology and continued to bless the moon with its brightness in phases, which is why we witness the waxing and waning of the moon.

The broken tusk of Lord Ganesh became a significant part of his iconography, and it is depicted in his various images and idols. The broken tusk symbolizes sacrifice, as Ganesh sacrificed a part of himself in his pursuit of justice and maintaining righteousness. The incident also serves as a reminder of Lord Ganesh's wisdom, sense of humour, and compassion.

May Lord Ganesh fulfil all the wishes of their devotees.
